You have just had one or more dental implants placed. The post-operative follow-up is simple or even non-existent, if the premedication has been correctly followed.
What to do:
- It is essential to take all the prescribed medication, even if there is no pain: SEVERE PAIN IS DIFFICULT TO COMBAT.
- Take the prescribed analgesics at regular intervals of 2 or 4 hours after the procedure.
- Put an ice pack on the cheek permanently on the day of the procedure and for as long as possible.
- Make mouthwash diluted in water 24 hours after the procedure.
- After removing the sutures, gently brush the surgical site and the screws with a post-surgical brush.
What not to do:
- Drink or eat hot for the first few days.
- Hold your cheek with your hand (source of heat).
- Eating food that is too solid.
- Drinking alcohol or smoking.
- Do not touch or eat on the implant(s) for the first 6 weeks.
Do not hesitate to contact the dental practice if:
- If the implant is painful.
- If the implant is mobile.
- If the site remains inflated for more than 2 days.
Thank you for following these few tips which are of a general nature and cannot prevail over what your dental surgeon has been able to prescribe / advise you. These tips will help you better support the postoperative consequences, and improve the success of the implant treatment.
